New project...VIDEO COOKING!

I recorded my Mom making the family apple pie recipe. It came from my Great Grandma might even be older than that! Here is the video below that is the transcribed recipe. This was an extremely fun thing to do I used my HTC EVO Shift smart phone to film the clips then edited it
all with Roxio Creator 2011 Pro.

Wood Family Apple Pie
Ingredients:
2lbs of baking apples, pick you favorite we used Gravenstien in the video.
2 "Pet Ritz" (Pillsbury brand) deep dish pie shells
1 Tb butter
Sugar
Cinnamon
Salt

Take the pie crusts out of the freezer and let thaw at room temperature. My Mom likes the Pet Ritz best because they are the closest to flaky homemade she says. And as a long time cook she also say making your own pie crusts is a pain in the rear!

Preheat oven to 400 degrees with a large cookie sheet on the oven rack.

Wash then peel, core, slice and cut apples. Try and make the pieces as close to the same thickness and size so it all cooks evenly.

That is why Mom uses the apple peeler, corer, and slicer makes it easier for everything to be close the same size and it is MUCH faster.

Put a single layer of apple pieces on the bottom of the pie crust, then sprinkle one large spoonful of sugar and shake enough cinnamon on it to make a medium brown color over much of the layer.

Repeat until the pie is heaping in the middle by about 1 inch. Then sprinkle a pinch of salt over the top and cube the table spoon of butter and put on top of the apple slices.

Then cover the pie with the top crust cutting into the crust to vent. Using foil or pie crust
edge covers cover the edge of the pie and put in the oven on the cookie sheet.

Bake for 30 minutes and check pie to see if it is soft. When touched the pie gives a little, if it is firm put it back in and let it bake for up to 10 minutes more depending on how firm the apples still are.

Once the crust is a beautiful golden brown and apples are cooked and bubbling remove from oven and let sit for about 10 minutes to let the apples cook a bit more. Then serve!

Notes: The sugar and cinnamon is a visual measurement use the pictures as a guide.

You can use unsalted butter instead of salted if you prefer, this will not change the other salt measurement.
