Easy spaghetti with meat sauce
This is soo easy and tasty I make it when I want to have lots of extra meals or am cooking for a large group. I also when cooking for a group, like to make a big loaf of garlic bread using fresh crushed garlic, melted butter brushed onto a brown & serve sourdough bread loaf and baked til golden brown.
1 32 oz can of crush tomatoes
7 average to large mushrooms(I like baby bellas) cleaned and thinly sliced
1 half of a very large (or one medium) sweet yellow onion diced
garlic
basil
oregano
salt
sugar
1lb ground beef
olive oil
spaghetti (I prefer Barrilla over all other brands, it never seems to stick together!)
In a large deep sauce pan pour about 3-4 tbsp of olive oil add garlic, salt, oregano, basil and about 2 large spoonfuls of sugar. Add the onion and mushrooms and saute after thoroughly cooked add the ground beef and cook completely. Drain the oil as much as you can then add the can of crushed tomatoes putting the pan on low heat and let simmer for about 30 minutes stirring regularly. Taste and add more spices as you feel needed. It may seem strange to add sugar as I have done but sugar actually cut some of the acidity of the tomatoes which for me makes the sauce taste better. it does not overly sweeten the sauce in anyway.
While the sauce is simmering cook the pasta per your brands directions.
I also like to use grated parmesean cheese even the cheapo Kraft stuff is pretty tasty on top of this stuff. or if you decide to make Garlic bread that is very good dipped in the sauce.
