48 hours of cooking and cleaning!

So my mom is in Kansas at a family reunion and I have the house to myself so I will be cleaning, reorganizing and cooking!

Tonight I did something simple but tasty. Tomato basil soup, Progresso brand since I did not really have time to do it from scratch and grilled ham, onion and swiss cheese sandwich on dill rye bread.

Sliced up one serving of sweet onion and grill it in a little bit of bacon fat or use some butter with a piece of thick ham steak. Butter each piece of dill rye on one side(or sourdough is also a good choice) place one slice of bread in the pan then one piece of aged swiss cheese the grilled onions, ham steak then the other slice of cheese then bread butter side up. Then grill until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Then slice the sandwich into three pieces to dip in the tomato soup. Very very tasty!

Like I said extremely simple but tasty. If you like you can also sprinkle a little garlic on the butter bread slices for more flavor.

Tomorrow more recipes on my 48 hours of cooking and cleaning!

  1. That sandwich sounds heavenly. But beware Progresso soups! They have TONS of sodium. No bueno.

  2. I am not someone who's had problems with sodium but folks who do I guess would need to worry about that. :-)
